This week, RAISE director Cynthia Breazeal joined IEEE Spectrum’s Evan Ackerman and Sony AI’s Peter Stone on how “robots and AI can address something more human that just productivity”:
Robotic technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated, offering new possibilities for creators to push the boundaries of imagination and creativity in areas like music, art, and even comedy. In this session, a distinguished panel of roboticists and AI experts will discuss how this technology can enhance the work of both today’s – and tomorrow’s – creators and extend their potential. They will also provide insights into the responsible development of robots through direct collaboration with creators of all kinds.
Breazeal emphasizes that we have to “go at it with eyes wide open,” as MIT RAISE does with programs like MIT FutureMakers and Day of AI curricula. “We’re teaching kids in K12 about these tools. They are AI natives. They’re growing up in a time when they will always be able to use these kinds of tools and intelligent agents. They’re going to need guidance from others who are wise and experienced in the world. Whether that’s parents or teachers, they’re going to be really essential.”
